Introduction |
|
Prof. Shigetsugu MIYAJI was the first professor
of the department (1950-55) since Fukushima Woman's
Medical College (1944-1950) was reorganized as
Fukushima Medical College (1950-1998).
Prof. Keiichiro HOSHIJIMA was the second professor
(1955-1986). He was honored as the professor emeritus
(1994), and the 3rd degree National Award (Kun-Santou-Kyokujitu-Chuju-Shou,
1995).
Prof. Masatoshi TANAKA was the third professor
(1988-2002). He was honored as the professor emeritus (2002).
Prof. Tetsuhito FUKUSHIMA is the fourth professor (Sep. 2002--).
In our lab, we are studying about the relationship
between human and environment factors from a viewpoint
of hygiene and preventive medicine. There are 8 staffs
(a Professor, an Associate professor, a Lecturer, 2 Research
associates, 2 Medical technologist, a Temporary worker)
and 8 researchers (a Graduate student, 5 Postdoctoral
fellows, 2 Research students) are belonging to our department.
Department motto is "variety and integration" Each staff
and Researcher has his/her own research theme and performs
the experiments in the laboratory and the field studies,
and conducts cooperative research with other university
and foreign researchers. We research about the improvement
in a human's health status and QOL and learn together and
cooperate each other to utilize the research outcome in education. |

Research |
|
Our department has climatic chamber, soundproof chamber.
Various experiments are doing in these chambers, setting
up temporally bicycle ergometer, treadmill, tilting bed,
bathtub, floor heating system, etc. in order to built the
comfort living environment from the various physiological
responses. The field works of health and environment are
done in the local communities, workplaces, welfare
institutions, schools, etc. Furthermore, the toxicological
studies about effects of living and/or occupational
environments are also performing. And we have also
biochemical experimental room and equipments. The other
hand, we are also performing the studies about the QOL
(quality of daily living) for the elderly with dementia
and about the evaluation of community care.
